About Emma

A Registered Nurse by profession, I came to Pilates in 2012 after the birth of my first child, which left me with a severe 11 centimetre abdominal muscle separation. I had difficulty getting into the Healthcare system for Physiotherapy, and with most traditional exercises a ‘no-go’ I felt very discouraged. I was reminded of a lady I knew called Rose who was a Pilates Instructor, so after speaking to her I decided to give Pilates a try. Under her excellent instruction I saw an improvement within two weeks of starting the exercises.

Pilates again showed its benefits after the birth of my second child. Weighing in at 10lb at birth, the effects of a difficult pregnancy left me unable to even lift my legs out of bed in the morning without picking them up with my arms. SI joint and SP dysfunction had their effects and I was advised by a physio to not even walk too much. Through Pilates I was able to strengthen and retrain my muscles to function effectively.

Rose & Emma

Four years and a third child later I am physically stronger and happier with my body image thanks to Pilates! It is such an efficient and effective form of exercise – I would encourage anyone to give it a try.
